From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, ethylene glycol exports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 68,078% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Austria (X tons), Serbia (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons) were the main destinations of ethylene glycol exports from Slovakia, together accounting for 52% of total exports. Poland, Romania, Israel, Ukraine, Hungary and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.

In 2022, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest ethylene glycol supplier to Slovakia, with a 50% share of total imports. Moreover, ethylene glycol imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belgium (X tons), threefold. Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 17% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Poland stood at +9.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+61.3% per year) and Germany (+10.8% per year).

In value terms, Poland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of ethylene glycol (ethanediol) to Slovakia, comprising 50% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Poland stood at +6.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+54.5% per year) and Germany (+6.5% per year).
