In 2021, the Slovak fishing rod market increased by 17% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, continues to indicate a mild reduction. The exports peaked in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, fishing rod exports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 185%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

The Czech Republic (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) were the main destinations of fishing rod exports from Slovakia, together comprising 72% of total exports.

From 2019 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Romania ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+15.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the fifth year in a row, Slovakia recorded growth in overseas purchases of fishing rods and other line fishing tackle, which increased by 31% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 54% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, fishing rod imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 60% against the previous year. The Czech Republic (X tons), China (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of fishing rod imports to Slovakia, with a combined 61% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands and Hungary, which together accounted for a further 30%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +107.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
