In value terms, frozen fish meat exports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, exports continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when exports increased by 671% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Hungary (X tons) was the main destination for frozen fish meat exports from Slovakia, with a 59% share of total exports. Moreover, frozen fish meat exports to Hungary exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Czech Republic (X tons), threefold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Hungary totaled +12.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (+48.3% per year) and Slovenia (-7.0% per year).

Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, frozen fish meat imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 58%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, the Czech Republic (X tons) constituted the largest frozen fish meat supplier to Slovakia, accounting for a 51% share of total imports. Moreover, frozen fish meat imports from the Czech Republic exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Ireland (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Austria (X tons), with a 12% share.

In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) constituted the largest supplier of frozen fish meat to Slovakia, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 23% share of total imports. It was followed by Austria, with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from the Czech Republic amounted to +21.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+38.2% per year) and Austria (+169.0% per year).

The average frozen fish meat import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, waning by -23.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 29%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Ireland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+21.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
