Glass Fibre Mat Market Size in Slovakia

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the production volume increased by 125% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production reached the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of glass fibre mats, when their volume decreased by -9.3% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 205% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, glass fibre mat exports contracted significantly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 1,245%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.

Exports by Country

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for glass fibre mat exports from Slovakia, with a 91% share of total exports. Moreover, glass fibre mat exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Denmark (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Hungary (X tons), with a 2.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany stood at +6.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Denmark (-17.1% per year) and Hungary (+33.7% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for glass fibre mats exports from Slovakia, comprising 92% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Denmark ($X), with a 3.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 2.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany stood at +7.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Denmark (+0.2% per year) and Hungary (+58.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average glass fibre mat export price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -16.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average export price increased by 341%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then declined rapidly in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Denmark (+20.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Slovakia

After two years of growth, supplies from abroad of glass fibre mats decreased by -18.7% to X tons in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +65.9% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, glass fibre mat imports dropped modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 75% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

Imports by Country

The Czech Republic (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the UK (X tons) were the main suppliers of glass fibre mat imports to Slovakia, together accounting for 83% of total imports. Italy, Poland and Egypt lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 14%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Egypt (with a CAGR of +73.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of glass fibre mats to Slovakia, comprising 78% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 6.7% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 5.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Germany totaled +39.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+22.4% per year) and the Czech Republic (+34.0% per year).

In 2022, the average glass fibre mat import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 111% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
