In value terms, aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives exports stood at $X in 2021. In general, exports showed a tangible expansion. The smallest decline of 99.9% was in 2019. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

The UK (X kg) was the main destination for aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives exports from Slovakia, accounting for a 43% share of total exports. Moreover, aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives exports to the UK exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X kg), threefold. The average aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price decreased by 99.9%. The export price peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2015 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+21.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Slovakia
In 2021, purchases abroad of halogenated derivatives of aromatic hydrocarbons decreased by -2% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after five years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 343%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives imports rose modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded perceptible growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 100% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
The Czech Republic (X tons), Germany (X tons) and China (X kg) were the main suppliers of aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives imports to Slovakia, together comprising 100% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Germany (with a CAGR of +116.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, the largest aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives suppliers to Slovakia were Germany ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and China ($X), with a combined 98% share of total imports.
