In 2021, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of machinery for making paper or paperboard, when their volume decreased by -98.6% to X units. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 16,700% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2020, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, paper machinery imports shrank remarkably to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 78,948%. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then reduced markedly in the following year.

In 2021, Germany (X units) constituted the largest paper machinery supplier to Slovakia, with a 72% share of total imports. Moreover, paper machinery imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the UK (X units), fourfold.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany amounted to +61.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the UK (+48.6% per year) and Finland (-78.1% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X), the UK ($X) and Finland ($X) constituted the largest paper machinery suppliers to Slovakia, together accounting for 99.9% of total imports.

Germany, with a CAGR of +85.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
