The exports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, meat exports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Hungary (X tons) was the main destination for meat exports from Slovakia, accounting for a X% share of total exports. Moreover, meat exports to Hungary exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Czech Republic (X tons), threefold. Poland (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with an X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Hungary was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (X% per year) and Poland (X% per year).
In value terms, Hungary ($X) remains the key foreign market for meat exports from Slovakia, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with a X% share.

For the third year in a row, Slovakia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of meat, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated moderate growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by X% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

The Czech Republic (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of meat imports to Slovakia, together accounting for X% of total imports. Spain, Belgium, Austria, Hungary, Denmark and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of X%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
