Poland (X tons) was the main destination for dried mushroom exports from Slovakia, accounting for a 52% share of total exports. Moreover, dried mushroom exports to Poland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Slovenia (X kg), threefold. Austria (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Poland totaled +30.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Slovenia (+71.0% per year) and Austria (+26.9% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for dried mushroom exported from Slovakia were Poland ($X), Slovenia ($X) and Belgium ($X), with a combined 61% share of total exports.

Slovenia, with a CAGR of +135.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average dried mushroom export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 43% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a prominent increase. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of dried mushrooms and truffles, when their volume increased by 47% to X tons. In general, total imports indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 48%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, dried mushroom imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a mild increase. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of dried mushroom to Slovakia, with a 49% share of total imports. Moreover, dried mushroom imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X tons), threefold. Vietnam (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 8.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+5.8% per year) and Vietnam (+6.2% per year).

In value terms, China ($X), Poland ($X) and the Czech Republic ($X) appeared to be the largest dried mushroom suppliers to Slovakia, together comprising 88% of total imports. Italy, the Netherlands, Hong Kong SAR and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 8.1%.

Among the main suppliers, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +63.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The average dried mushroom import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, dropping by -2.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a mild shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 46%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
