The Slovak natural rubber and gum market soared to $X in 2022, increasing by 59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a abrupt setback. Natural rubber and gum consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, natural rubber and gum exports from Slovakia reduced markedly to X tons, which is down by -71.8% on the previous year. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 1,415%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, natural rubber and gum exports shrank notably to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 2,810%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The Czech Republic (X tons) was the main destination for natural rubber and gum exports from Slovakia, with a 93% share of total exports. Moreover, natural rubber and gum exports to the Czech Republic exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Austria (X kg), more than tenfold.
From 2013 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to the Czech Republic totaled +1.2%.
In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for natural rubber and gums exports from Slovakia, comprising 94% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Austria ($X), with a 6.1% share of total exports.
From 2013 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the Czech Republic stood at -4.1%.
Export Prices by Country
The average natural rubber and gum export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, which is down by -2.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a perceptible increase from 2013 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, natural rubber and gum export price increased by +43.3% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 92% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria stood at $X per ton.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Imports of Natural Rubber And Gums
Imports into Slovakia
In 2022, imports of natural rubber and gums into Slovakia soared to X tons, jumping by 30% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 170%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, natural rubber and gum imports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 166%. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, France (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of natural rubber and gum to Slovakia, accounting for a 70% share of total imports. Moreover, natural rubber and gum imports from France exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Thailand (X tons), threefold. The Czech Republic (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 2.3% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from France was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (-7.7% per year) and the Czech Republic (-29.1% per year).
In value terms, France ($X) constituted the largest supplier of natural rubber and gums to Slovakia, comprising 70% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 2.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from France totaled +30.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (-9.3% per year) and the Czech Republic (-29.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average natural rubber and gum import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 22% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 37%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+31.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
