In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X) remains the key foreign market for papayas exports from Slovakia, comprising 87% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Spain ($X), with an 11% share of total exports.
From 2013 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the Czech Republic totaled +142.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Spain (0.0% per year) and Hungary (+13.0% per year).

In 2022, the average papaya export price amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -14.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 52% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+42.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Slovakia
In 2022, papaya imports into Slovakia contracted remarkably to X tons, which is down by -73% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports saw a pronounced slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 103%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, papaya imports dropped remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 46%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Spain (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of papaya to Slovakia, with a 60% share of total imports. Moreover, papaya imports from Spain exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Brazil (X tons), twofold.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Spain stood at +81.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Brazil (+9.5% per year) and the Netherlands (+55.7% per year).
In value terms, Spain ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Brazil ($X) appeared to be the largest papaya suppliers to Slovakia, with a combined 95% share of total imports.
Spain, with a CAGR of +93.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average papaya import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 57% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a tangible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 76%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Brazil ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
