Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 143% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, potato chips exports contracted remarkably to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted pronounced growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 148% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Austria (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Hungary (X tons) were the main destinations of potato chips exports from Slovakia, together accounting for 93% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Hungary (with a CAGR of +71.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Austria ($X) remains the key foreign market for potato chips exports from Slovakia, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the Czech Republic ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 13% share.

In general, total imports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the last decade. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 26% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. Moreover, potato chips imports from the Czech Republic exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X tons), threefold. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 24%.
