The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the production volume increased by 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Exports from Slovakia
In 2022, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of prefabricated buildings, when their volume decreased by -9.4% to X units. In general, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 65%. The exports peaked at X units in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, prefabricated buildings exports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 69%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
Exports by Country
Germany (X units) was the main destination for prefabricated buildings exports from Slovakia, with a 55% share of total exports. Moreover, prefabricated buildings exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X units), sevenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Hungary (X units), with an 8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany totaled +9.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (+31.2% per year) and Hungary (+30.1% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for prefabricated buildings exports from Slovakia, comprising 57% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Hungary ($X), with a 7.5% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 7.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany totaled +7.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Hungary (+14.1% per year) and the Netherlands (+18.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average prefabricated buildings export price amounted to $X per unit, stabilizing at the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 22% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Finland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+9.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Prefabricated Buildings Imports
Imports into Slovakia
In 2022, purchases abroad of prefabricated buildings increased by 35% to X units, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, imports showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 283%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, prefabricated buildings imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 42%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Poland (X units) constituted the largest prefabricated buildings supplier to Slovakia, accounting for a 30% share of total imports. Moreover, prefabricated buildings imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Czech Republic (X units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was held by Ukraine (X units), with a 6.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Poland amounted to +41.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (+3.8% per year) and Ukraine (+27.3% per year).
In value terms, the Czech Republic ($X), Poland ($X) and Sweden ($X) were the largest prefabricated buildings suppliers to Slovakia, with a combined 28% share of total imports. China, Ukraine, Turkey, Austria and Belarus lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 12%.
Belarus, with a CAGR of +113.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average prefabricated buildings import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 52%. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per unit), while the price for Ukraine ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belarus (+13.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
