In 2021, shipments abroad of radar apparatus decreased by -34.3% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, saw a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 1,827% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, radar apparatus exports amounted to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 3,295%. The exports peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Ukraine (X kg), Austria (X kg) and Malta (X kg) were the main destinations of radar apparatus exports from Slovakia, with a combined 37% share of total exports. Romania, South Korea, Azerbaijan, Singapore, the Czech Republic and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 49%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Romania (with a CAGR of +405.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 11,689% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+68.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Slovakia

In 2021, radar apparatus imports into Slovakia rose to X tons, growing by 1.7% compared with the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 168%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, radar apparatus imports expanded modestly to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 148% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

In 2021, South Korea (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of radar apparatus to Slovakia, accounting for a 72% share of total imports. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from South Korea totaled +394.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Hungary (+107.3% per year) and Singapore (+167.9% per year).

In 2021, the average radar apparatus import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 1.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 30% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for South Korea ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
