Relay Market Size in Slovakia

In 2022, the Slovak relay market increased by 12% to $X, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. In general, the total consumption indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption increased by +73.4% against 2019 indices. Relay consumption peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, relay production dropped to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, saw a perceptible downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the production volume increased by 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, relay exports from Slovakia dropped to X units, with a decrease of -3.5% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, exports continue to indicate a slight descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 45%. The exports peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, relay exports declined notably to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 49%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

Germany (X units) was the main destination for relay exports from Slovakia, accounting for a 32% share of total exports. Moreover, relay exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Morocco (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Russia (X units), with an 8.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany stood at +1.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Morocco (+80.7% per year) and Russia (+12.9% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for relays exports from Slovakia, comprising 37% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Russia ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Singapore, with an 8% share.

Japan (X units), Germany (X units) and South Korea (X units) were the main suppliers of relay imports to Slovakia, together accounting for 64% of total imports. China, Italy, the Netherlands, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Poland, France and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 29%.

In 2022, the average relay import price amounted to $X per unit, declining by -4.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a mild downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average import price increased by 17% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the price for Lithuania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
