Seat Market Size in Slovakia

In 2021, the Slovak seat market was finally on the rise to reach $X after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption saw a significant expansion. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

Seat Production in Slovakia

In value terms, seat production dropped dramatically to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, faced a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the production volume increased by 102%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2021, production growth remained at a lower figure.

Seat Exports

Exports from Slovakia

After two years of decline, overseas shipments of seats increased by 17% to X tons in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a abrupt downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 697% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, seat exports rose sharply to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 17%. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Germany (X tons), Hungary (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) were the main destinations of seat exports from Slovakia, with a combined 46% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Austria, Russia, Denmark, the Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 22%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +20.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for seats exports from Slovakia, comprising 43% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Czech Republic ($X), with a 10% share of total exports. It was followed by Denmark, with a 9.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Czech Republic (+5.6% per year) and Denmark (+5.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the average seat export price amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -4.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 323% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Seat Imports

Imports into Slovakia

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of seats decreased by -17.4% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 87%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, seat imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Poland (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) were the main suppliers of seat imports to Slovakia, together accounting for 25% of total imports. These countries were followed by Austria, China and Hungary, which together accounted for a further 9.8%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Austria (with a CAGR of +32.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Poland ($X), the Czech Republic ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the largest seat suppliers to Slovakia, with a combined 70% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Austria, China and Hungary, which together accounted for a further 17%.

In terms of the main suppliers, Austria, with a CAGR of +29.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average seat import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 61% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a deep slump. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($X per ton), while the price for China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
