The Slovak unvulcanized rubber market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2022, after four years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption, however, recorded a perceptible slump. In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in shipments abroad of unvulcanized rubber and articles thereof, when their volume increased by 14% to X tons. Overall, total exports indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 21% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, unvulcanized rubber exports rose markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 34%. The exports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Romania (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main destinations of unvulcanized rubber exports from Slovakia, with a combined 72% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Romania (with a CAGR of +21.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for unvulcanized rubber and articles thereof exports from Slovakia, comprising 43% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Romania ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Poland, with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany stood at +4.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Romania (+17.6% per year) and Poland (+16.0% per year).

The average unvulcanized rubber export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -5.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Ukraine ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+11.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the amount of unvulcanized rubber and articles thereof imported into Slovakia declined to X tons, shrinking by -9.5% against the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports saw a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 31%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, unvulcanized rubber imports reduced modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

The Czech Republic (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of unvulcanized rubber imports to Slovakia, with a combined 74% share of total imports. France, Turkey, Spain, Belgium and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 16%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Turkey (with a CAGR of +59.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest unvulcanized rubber suppliers to Slovakia were the Czech Republic ($X), Germany ($X) and Spain ($X), together comprising 70% of total imports. Italy, Turkey, France, the UK and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 14%.

The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
