The Czech Republic (X kg) was the main destination for enamels and glazes exports from Slovakia, accounting for a 73% share of total exports. Moreover, enamels and glazes exports to the Czech Republic exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X kg), threefold. Poland (X kg) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 1.3% share.

Over the period under review, imports showed a slight decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, enamels and glazes imports expanded rapidly to $X in 2021. Overall, total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the last nine-year period. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Germany totaled +41.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (-20.1% per year) and Belgium (+106.4% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of vitrifiable enamels and glazes for ceramics, enamelling or glass to Slovakia, comprising 63% of total imports.
