The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average export price increased by 217%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Austria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

For the fourth consecutive year, Slovakia recorded growth in purchases abroad of wheelchairs, which increased by 11% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 101% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, wheelchair imports reduced to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 115%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

France (X units), Poland (X units) and Germany (X units) were the main suppliers of wheelchair imports to Slovakia, together accounting for 87% of total imports. These countries were followed by Italy, the Czech Republic, Latvia and China, which together accounted for a further 10%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Latvia (with a CAGR of +2,088.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
