Exports from Slovakia
In 2022, exports of glass fibre fabrics from Slovakia was estimated at X tons, picking up by 4.4% on the year before. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, glass fibre fabrics exports expanded slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -3.2% against 2020 indices. The third position in this ranking was held by Austria (X tons), with an 8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany stood at +4.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+7.1% per year) and Austria (+6.3% per year).
In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for glass fibre fabrics exports from Slovakia, comprising 43% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Poland ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 7.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Germany totaled +4.0%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Poland (+5.3% per year) and the Czech Republic (+7.7% per year).

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 111%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, glass fibre fabrics imports totaled $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -22.7% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 56%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, the Czech Republic (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of glass fibre fabrics to Slovakia, accounting for a 47% share of total imports. Moreover, glass fibre fabrics imports from the Czech Republic exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, North Macedonia (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Poland (X tons), with a 9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the Czech Republic amounted to +5.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: North Macedonia (+25.0% per year) and Poland (+27.1% per year).
In value terms, the largest glass fibre fabrics suppliers to Slovakia were the Czech Republic ($X), North Macedonia ($X) and Romania ($X), together comprising 67% of total imports. Poland, Latvia, Germany, Serbia and China lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 18%.
Serbia, with a CAGR of +51.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average glass fibre fabrics import price stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 2.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
