Ukraine (X tons), the Czech Republic (X tons) and Bulgaria (X tons) were the main destinations of cotton fabric exports from Slovakia, together comprising 66% of total exports. China, Austria, Morocco, Tunisia, Germany, Italy and Poland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 29%.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +180.3%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

After two years of growth, purchases abroad of woven fabrics of cotton decreased by -74.7% to X tons in 2021. Overall, imports showed a pronounced descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 189%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

In value terms, cotton fabric imports reduced notably to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 176% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.

The Czech Republic (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main suppliers of cotton fabric imports to Slovakia, with a combined 59% share of total imports. The Netherlands, Poland, Pakistan, Turkey, France, Lithuania, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland and China lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 102% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while the price for Austria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
