The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of X%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

Croatia (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main destinations of active yeast exports from Slovenia, with a combined X% share of total exports. Serbia, Germany and North Macedonia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Germany (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was North Macedonia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

For the fourth year in a row, Slovenia recorded decline in purchases abroad of bakers and active yeast, which decreased by X% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports recorded a noticeable setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, active yeast imports rose notably to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by X%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2022, Hungary (X tons) constituted the largest active yeast supplier to Slovenia, accounting for a X% share of total imports. Moreover, active yeast imports from Hungary exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X tons), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Austria (X tons), with a X% share.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, active yeast import price increased by X% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by X%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
