Ball Market Size in Slovenia

The Slovene ball market dropped dramatically to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -23.2% against the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). Over the period under review, consumption saw a perceptible decrease. From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Croatia stood at +10.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Serbia (+9.0% per year) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (+6.3% per year).

In value terms, Croatia ($X) remains the key foreign market for balls exports from Slovenia, comprising 55% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Serbia ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a 6.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Croatia stood at +17.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Serbia (+15.7% per year) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (+9.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average ball export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, waning by -15.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, posted a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average export price increased by 39%. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were the Czech Republic ($X per unit) and Italy ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Montenegro ($X per unit) and Serbia ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Ball Imports

Imports into Slovenia

In 2022, the amount of balls imported into Slovenia declined sharply to X units, waning by -21.2% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports saw a slight slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

In value terms, ball imports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped in the following year.

Imports by Country

China (X units), Thailand (X units) and the Philippines (X units) were the main suppliers of ball imports to Slovenia, together accounting for 56% of total imports. Germany, Italy, France, Austria, Vietnam, Taiwan (Chinese), Pakistan, Belgium, Hungary and Croatia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 40%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +26.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of balls to Slovenia, comprising 30% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled +1.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+15.5% per year) and Italy (-3.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average ball import price amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 14% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average import price increased by 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while the price for the Philippines ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
