The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 36%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, trailer and semi-trailer exports amounted to $X in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +8.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +85.1% against 2015 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Germany (X units) was the main destination for trailer and semi-trailer exports from Slovenia, accounting for a 60% share of total exports. Moreover, trailer and semi-trailer exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Croatia (X units), eightfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Austria (X units), with a 7.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany stood at -2.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Croatia (+15.0% per year) and Austria (+7.2% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for cargo trailers and semi-trailers exports from Slovenia, comprising 32% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Croatia ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Austria, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany totaled +3.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Croatia (+16.3% per year) and Austria (+7.8% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The average trailer and semi-trailer export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, trailer and semi-trailer export price increased by +56.6% against 2018 indices. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Romania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Trailer And Semi-Trailer Imports

Imports into Slovenia

Trailer and semi-trailer imports into Slovenia declined to X units in 2022, with a decrease of -7.9% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 82%. Imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, trailer and semi-trailer imports declined slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Germany (X units) constituted the largest trailer and semi-trailer supplier to Slovenia, with a 38% share of total imports. Moreover, trailer and semi-trailer imports from Germany exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X units), twofold. Croatia (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Germany amounted to +16.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+21.4% per year) and Croatia (+56.8% per year).

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Germany totaled +9.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Austria (+1.9% per year) and Poland (+26.3% per year).

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 32%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per unit), while the price for Serbia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
