Non-Electric Chainsaw Market Size in Slovenia

For the third consecutive year, the Slovene non-electric chainsaw market recorded growth in sales value, which increased by 19% to $X in 2022. In general, the total consumption indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption increased by +53.3% against 2019 indices. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

Non-Electric Chainsaw Exports

Exports from Slovenia

In 2022, after five years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of chainsaws with a self-contained non-electric motor, when their volume decreased by -40% to X units. In general, exports, however, recorded a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 62% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

In value terms, non-electric chainsaw exports shrank markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a measured increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 71%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Croatia (X units) was the main destination for non-electric chainsaw exports from Slovenia, accounting for a 74% share of total exports. Moreover, non-electric chainsaw exports to Croatia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Serbia (X units), sixfold. Montenegro (X units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 4.4% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Croatia amounted to +16.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Serbia (+17.4% per year) and Montenegro (+12.7% per year).

In value terms, Croatia ($X) remains the key foreign market for chainsaws with a self-contained non-electric motor exports from Slovenia, comprising 73% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Serbia ($X), with a 9.1% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 4.8% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Croatia totaled +12.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Serbia (+12.3% per year) and Germany (+1.3% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average non-electric chainsaw export price amounted to $X per unit, surging by 4.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 72%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to France ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Non-Electric Chainsaw Imports

Imports into Slovenia

In 2022, overseas purchases of chainsaws with a self-contained non-electric motor decreased by -9.5% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, recorded a perceptible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, non-electric chainsaw imports rose to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +37.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 58% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest non-electric chainsaw supplier to Slovenia, with a 65% share of total imports. Moreover, non-electric chainsaw imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X units), sixfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Sweden (X units), with a 9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +7.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+2.4% per year) and Sweden (-0.6% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X), China ($X) and Sweden ($X) were the largest non-electric chainsaw suppliers to Slovenia, together comprising 82% of total imports.

Germany, with a CAGR of +9.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average non-electric chainsaw import price amounted to $X per unit, jumping by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a slight decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 26%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+6.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
