In general, imports, however, saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 361% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2016, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, crabs, not frozen imports fell notably to $X in 2016. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 293%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2016, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
Italy (X kg), France (X kg) and Croatia (X kg) were the main suppliers of crabs, not frozen imports to Slovenia, together comprising 61% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2016, the biggest increases were recorded for France (with a CAGR of +96.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

From 2014 to 2016, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2016, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Norway ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2016, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+27.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
