Dairy Machinery Market Size in Slovenia

The Slovene dairy machinery market skyrocketed to $X in 2022, growing by 31% against the previous year. Overall, consumption posted a buoyant expansion. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, dairy machinery production reached $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, the total production indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -4.1% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the production volume increased by 96%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2016 to 2022, production growth failed to regain momentum.

Dairy Machinery Exports

Exports from Slovenia

After two years of growth, shipments abroad of dairy machinery decreased by -38.5% to X units in 2022. Overall, exports, however, posted a perceptible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 117%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, dairy machinery exports contracted rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 99% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

France (X units), Austria (X units) and Germany (X units) were the main destinations of dairy machinery exports from Slovenia, together accounting for 56% of total exports. Italy, Switzerland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Poland, Serbia, Spain and Greece lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Switzerland (with a CAGR of +44.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, France ($X), Austria ($X) and Germany ($X) were the largest markets for dairy machinery exported from Slovenia worldwide, together accounting for 53% of total exports. Switzerland, Italy, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Spain, Croatia, Greece and Serbia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 38%.

Switzerland, with a CAGR of +46.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average dairy machinery export price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 20% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 33% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dairy Machinery Imports

Imports into Slovenia

In 2022, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of dairy machinery, when their volume decreased by -45.8% to X units. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a measured expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 365% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, dairy machinery imports reduced markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a pronounced expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 590%. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

Imports by Country

Bosnia and Herzegovina (X units), Germany (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main suppliers of dairy machinery imports to Slovenia, with a combined 90% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Germany (with a CAGR of +35.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of dairy machinery to Slovenia, comprising 63% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Italy, with a 17% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany totaled +36.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Bosnia and Herzegovina (+13.9% per year) and Italy (+2.6% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average dairy machinery import price amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -39.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 52% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2021, and then contracted notably in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
