Overall, imports, however, recorded a moderate expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 200%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2021, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

In value terms, escalator imports dropped to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a pronounced expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 321% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Slovakia (X units) constituted the largest escalator supplier to Slovenia, accounting for a 71% share of total imports. Moreover, escalator imports from Slovakia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X units), tenfold. Malta (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Slovakia stood at +9.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+11.6% per year) and Malta (+22.5% per year).

In value terms, Slovakia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of escalators and moving WalkWays to Slovenia, comprising 80% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 9.4% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Slovakia totaled +9.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+47.6% per year) and China (-14.3% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average escalator import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, growing by 91% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the price for the Czech Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malta (+117.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
