In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in the Slovene market for fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors, when its value decreased by -56.5% to $X. In general, consumption, however, continues to indicate a strong increase. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2021, and then contracted markedly in the following year.

In 2022, after five years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors, when their volume decreased by -59.7% to X units. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 1,198%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, exports of fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors surged to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 185%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Serbia (X units), Bosnia and Herzegovina (X units) and Israel (X units) were the main destinations of exports of fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors from Slovenia, together accounting for 64% of total exports. Albania, Italy, Germany, Croatia, North Macedonia and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Italy (with a CAGR of +52.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for forklift truck and industrial works truck exported from Slovenia were Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X), Israel ($X) and Serbia ($X), with a combined 54% share of total exports. Albania, Croatia, Italy, Austria, Germany and North Macedonia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 27%.

Italy, with a CAGR of +83.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average export price for fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 244% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a pronounced downturn. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+20.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Slovenia

In 2022, supplies from abroad of fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors decreased by -63.1% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 339%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

In value terms, imports of fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 36% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

China (X units), Germany (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main suppliers of imports of fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors to Slovenia, together accounting for 69% of total imports. Malaysia, Croatia, Sweden, Poland, India, Vietnam, Bulgaria, France, Belgium and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 26%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +403.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X) constituted the largest supplier of fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors to Slovenia, comprising 58% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 9.8% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a 9.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from Germany stood at +17.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+17.3% per year) and France (+20.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average import price for fork-lift trucks and other industrial works trucks and tractors amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 220% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a slight increase. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while the price for India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+11.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
