Frozen Poultry Liver Market Size in Slovenia

In 2022, the Slovene frozen poultry liver market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when exports increased by 22%. The exports peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, frozen poultry liver exports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports recorded a pronounced decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 25%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

North Macedonia (X tons), Croatia (X tons) and Serbia (X tons) were the main destinations of frozen poultry liver exports from Slovenia, together comprising 65% of total exports. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Austria, Hungary, the UK, Poland, Sweden, Italy and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the UK (with a CAGR of +53.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for frozen poultry liver exported from Slovenia were North Macedonia ($X), Serbia ($X) and Croatia ($X), together comprising 62% of total exports. Austria, Sweden, Montenegro, Hungary, the UK, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Poland and Romania lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.

Among the main countries of destination, the UK, with a CAGR of +56.2%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average frozen poultry liver export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 13% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sweden ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Slovenia

After three years of decline, purchases abroad of frozen poultry livers and offal increased by 6.7% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 27%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, frozen poultry liver imports expanded markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +27.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

Austria (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Croatia (X tons) were the main suppliers of frozen poultry liver imports to Slovenia, together comprising 52% of total imports. Hungary, Brazil, Spain, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Spain (with a CAGR of +33.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest frozen poultry liver suppliers to Slovenia were Austria ($X), Croatia ($X) and Brazil ($X), with a combined 56% share of total imports. Poland, Hungary, Spain, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 36%.

Among the main suppliers, Spain, with a CAGR of +34.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average frozen poultry liver import price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 7.3% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, frozen poultry liver import price increased by +67.3% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 27% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($X per ton), while the price for Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+9.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
