In value terms, mixes and doughs exports reached $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 40%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Croatia (X tons) was the main destination for mixes and doughs exports from Slovenia, with a 55% share of total exports. Moreover, mixes and doughs exports to Croatia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X tons), fourfold. Austria (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Croatia stood at +2.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (+36.3% per year) and Austria (+3.3% per year).

In value terms, Croatia ($X) remains the key foreign market for mixes and doughs exports from Slovenia, comprising 50% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Austria ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 16% share.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Overall, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +84.7% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Austria (X tons), Croatia (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of mixes and doughs imports to Slovenia, with a combined 64% share of total imports. Serbia, Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belgium, France and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 30%.

Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($X per ton), while the price for Serbia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
