Exports from Slovenia
In 2022, shipments abroad of nucleic acids and their salts was finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Over the period under review, exports recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 64%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, nucleic acids exports declined modestly to $X in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -19.5% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 40%. The exports peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Vietnam (X tons) was the main destination for nucleic acids exports from Slovenia, accounting for a 53% share of total exports. Moreover, nucleic acids exports to Vietnam exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Switzerland (X tons), fourfold. France (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8.6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Vietnam stood at +19.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Switzerland (+31.0% per year) and France (-1.3% per year).
In value terms, India ($X), Switzerland ($X) and France ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for nucleic acids exported from Slovenia worldwide, with a combined 77% share of total exports. Vietnam, Russia, China, Lebanon, Austria, Croatia, South Korea, Spain and the United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 19%.
Lebanon, with a CAGR of +204.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average nucleic acids export price stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -34% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 83% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Lebanon ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+18.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Slovenia
In 2022, overseas purchases of nucleic acids and their salts increased by 44% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, nucleic acids imports rose markedly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 42%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Germany (X tons), Poland (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of nucleic acids imports to Slovenia, together comprising 62% of total imports. India, Slovakia, Italy, Belgium and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 30%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Belgium (with a CAGR of +56.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, India ($X), China ($X) and Germany ($X) appeared to be the largest nucleic acids suppliers to Slovenia, together accounting for 62% of total imports. Poland, Italy, Belgium, Slovakia and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 5.8%.
Among the main suppliers, Poland, with a CAGR of +24.4%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average nucleic acids import price amounted to $X per ton, waning by -26.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced downturn.
