Office Supply Market Size in Slovenia

The Slovene office supply market reduced to $X in 2022, declining by -11.7% against the previous year. In general, consumption recorded a mild curtailment. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, office supply production fell to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production continues to indicate a slight reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 86% against the previous year. Office supply production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, overseas shipments of office or school supplies of plastics decreased by -7.7% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after four years of growth. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -17.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by 33% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, office supply exports contracted to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 28%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for office supply exports from Slovenia, accounting for a 77% share of total exports. Moreover, office supply exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Serbia (X tons), more than tenfold. Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 4.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume to Germany amounted to +4.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Serbia (+7.0% per year) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (+6.8% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for office or school supplies of plastics exports from Slovenia, comprising 81% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Croatia ($X), with a 3.5% share of total exports. It was followed by Serbia, with a 2.7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany totaled +2.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Croatia (+6.7% per year) and Serbia (+6.6% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average office supply export price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 5.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average export price increased by 10%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Croatia (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into Slovenia

In 2022, overseas purchases of office or school supplies of plastics decreased by -7% to X tons, falling for the fifth consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, office supply imports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 47%. Imports peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of office supply to Slovenia, accounting for a 38% share of total imports. Moreover, office supply imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), twofold. Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China amounted to +3.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (-6.1% per year) and Germany (-2.1% per year).

In value terms, the largest office supply suppliers to Slovenia were China ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X), together comprising 67% of total imports. France, Austria, Poland, Turkey and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 21%.

In terms of the main suppliers, Austria, with a CAGR of +14.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the average office supply import price amounted to $X per ton, declining by -11.7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 19% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Poland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
