Market Size for Other Plastic Tubes, Pipes and Hoses in Slovenia

In 2022, the Slovene market for other plastic tubes, pipes and hoses decreased by -4.5% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after five years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 293% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, exports of other plastic tubes, pipes and hoses skyrocketed to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 205%. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

Germany (X tons) was the main destination for exports of other plastic tubes, pipes and hoses from Slovenia, accounting for a 54% share of total exports. Moreover, exports of other plastic tubes, pipes and hoses to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Croatia (X tons), sixfold. Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7.6% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany totaled +70.5%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Croatia (+0.9% per year) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (+17.0% per year).

In value terms, Germany ($X) remains the key foreign market for other plastic tubes, pipes and hoses exports from Slovenia, comprising 66% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X), with a 7% share of total exports. It was followed by Croatia, with a 6.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Germany amounted to +71.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bosnia and Herzegovina (+18.1% per year) and Croatia (+3.8% per year).

The average export price for other plastic tubes, pipes and hoses stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 25% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.6%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average export price increased by 28%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of other plastic tubes, pipes and hoses decreased by -4.5% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 100% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, imports of other plastic tubes, pipes and hoses declined slightly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 63% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted modestly in the following year.

Imports by Country

Italy (X tons), Denmark (X tons) and Germany (X tons) were the main suppliers of imports of other plastic tubes, pipes and hoses to Slovenia, with a combined 70% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Denmark (with a CAGR of +90.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), Italy ($X) and Denmark ($X) constituted the largest other plastic tubes, pipes and hoses suppliers to Slovenia, with a combined 71% share of total imports.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for other plastic tubes, pipes and hoses increased by +117.2% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 58%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
