In value terms, plastic doors and windows exports fell notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 56% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted sharply in the following year.

Austria (X units), Germany (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main destinations of plastic doors and windows exports from Slovenia, together comprising 76% of total exports. The Czech Republic, Switzerland and Bosnia and Herzegovina lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 20%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +169.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Austria ($X) remains the key foreign market for plastic doors, windows and their frames exports from Slovenia, comprising 45% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Italy, with a 16% share.

In 2022, overseas purchases of plastic doors, windows and their frames decreased by -30.1% to X units for the first time since 2014, thus ending a seven-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, saw prominent growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 47% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, plastic doors and windows imports contracted significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 69%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined markedly in the following year.

Imports by Country

In value terms, the largest plastic doors and windows suppliers to Slovenia were Poland ($X), Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X) and Austria ($X), together accounting for 61% of total imports. Croatia, Italy, Turkey, Germany, North Macedonia, Romania and Hungary lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 31%.

North Macedonia, with a CAGR of +67.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average plastic doors and windows import price amounted to $X per unit, rising by 5.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 17%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
