The exports peaked at X tons in 2021, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

In value terms, preparations for animal feeding exports declined significantly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, saw a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 58%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

Croatia (X tons), Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main destinations of preparations for animal feeding exports from Slovenia, together accounting for 79% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +50.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Croatia ($X) remains the key foreign market for preparations used in animal feeding exports from Slovenia, comprising 34% of total exports. Preparations for animal feeding imports into Slovenia stood at X tons in 2022, surging by 8.3% on the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, preparations for animal feeding imports expanded slightly to $X in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last decade. In 2022, Austria (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of preparations for animal feeding to Slovenia, accounting for a 38% share of total imports. Moreover, preparations for animal feeding imports from Austria exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Italy (X tons), threefold. Germany (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from Austria amounted to +7.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (-1.5% per year) and Germany (+1.9% per year).

In value terms, the largest preparations for animal feeding suppliers to Slovenia were Austria ($X), Germany ($X) and Italy ($X), together comprising 48% of total imports. Hungary, Poland, the Netherlands, France, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Switzerland, Belgium and Croatia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 41%.

Among the main suppliers, the Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +29.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 16%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the price for Austria ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
