The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 55% against the previous year. The exports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, printing press exports contracted sharply to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 110%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

Exports by Country

Germany (X units) was the main destination for printing press exports from Slovenia, accounting for a 49% share of total exports. Moreover, printing press exports to Germany exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Switzerland (X units), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Croatia (X units), with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Germany stood at +17.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Switzerland (-1.7% per year) and Croatia (+8.6% per year).

In value terms, Croatia ($X), Germany ($X) and the United States ($X) constituted the largest markets for printing press exported from Slovenia worldwide, together comprising 55% of total exports. Poland, the UK, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Mauritius lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 17%.

Poland, with a CAGR of +66.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average printing press export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, falling by -21% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, enjoyed a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2021, and then declined markedly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Mauritius ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+54.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Printing Press Imports

Imports into Slovenia

In 2022, approx. X units of printing presses were imported into Slovenia; which is down by -53.9% compared with 2021. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 203%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, printing press imports reduced to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 105%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

China (X units), Serbia (X units) and Switzerland (X units) were the main suppliers of printing press imports to Slovenia, with a combined 47% share of total imports. India, Italy, Japan, Germany, the UK and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 42%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +123.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Germany ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and the UK ($X) appeared to be the largest printing press suppliers to Slovenia, together comprising 57% of total imports.

Among the main suppliers, the Netherlands, with a CAGR of +110.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average printing press import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, jumping by 106% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a notable expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the average import price increased by 162%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+73.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
