The Slovene radar apparatus market soared to $X in 2022, jumping by 33% against the previous year. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 87% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, radar apparatus exports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 91%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then dropped markedly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Sri Lanka (X units) was the main destination for radar apparatus exports from Slovenia, with a 31% share of total exports. Moreover, radar apparatus exports to Sri Lanka exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Serbia (X units), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Austria (X units), with a 7.3% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume to Sri Lanka amounted to +189.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Serbia (+10.5% per year) and Austria (+13.0% per year).

In value terms, the largest markets for radar apparatus exported from Slovenia were Sri Lanka ($X), the United States ($X) and the UK ($X), together accounting for 39% of total exports.

Sri Lanka, with a CAGR of +242.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The average radar apparatus export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, growing by 2.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 71%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Albania ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Azerbaijan (+66.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Slovenia

In 2022, supplies from abroad of radar apparatus, radio navigational aid apparatus and radio remote control apparatus increased by 15% to X units, rising for the fifth consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +75.3% against 2017 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 50%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, radar apparatus imports surged to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a remarkable increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Italy (X units), Germany (X units) and Sweden (X units) were the main suppliers of radar apparatus imports to Slovenia, with a combined 48% share of total imports. China, France, Lithuania, the Netherlands, the United States, Japan, Israel, Austria, Croatia and Switzerland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 43%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Israel (with a CAGR of +96.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average radar apparatus import price amounted to $X per unit, jumping by 33% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the average import price increased by 56%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while the price for Japan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
