Exports from Slovenia
In 2022, overseas shipments of raspberries and blackberries decreased by -91.5% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, showed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 4,229% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, raspberry and blackberry exports contracted markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 4,026%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then dropped notably in the following year.
Exports by Country
Italy (X tons), Croatia (X tons) and Austria (X tons) were the main destinations of raspberry and blackberry exports from Slovenia, with a combined 76% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Austria (with a CAGR of +68.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Croatia ($X), Italy ($X) and Spain ($X) constituted the largest markets for raspberry and blackberry exported from Slovenia worldwide, with a combined 75% share of total exports. Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 24%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Austria, with a CAGR of +67.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the average raspberry and blackberry export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 26% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a noticeable reduction. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (-0.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Raspberry And Blackberry Imports
Imports into Slovenia
In 2022, imports of raspberries and blackberries into Slovenia declined significantly to X tons, reducing by -36.2% on 2021 figures. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 174%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, raspberry and blackberry imports declined rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 130%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
Imports by Country
Spain (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main suppliers of raspberry and blackberry imports to Slovenia, together comprising 88% of total imports. Morocco, Poland, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 10%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Poland (with a CAGR of +117.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest raspberry and blackberry suppliers to Slovenia were Spain ($X), Austria ($X) and Italy ($X), with a combined 87% share of total imports. Morocco, Poland, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 11%.
Among the main suppliers, Poland, with a CAGR of +98.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average raspberry and blackberry import price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 16% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 58% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the price for Serbia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
