Exports from Slovenia

In 2018, the amount of rice exported from Slovenia totaled X tons, jumping by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the total exports indicated a slight expansion from 2007 to 2018: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2018 figures, rice exports increased by +X% against 2016 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2008 with an increase of X% against the previous year. In that year, rice exports reached their peak of X tons. Over the period under review, rice exports attained their maximum in 2018 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Croatia (X tons), Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons) and Montenegro (X tons) were the main destinations of rice exports from Slovenia, together accounting for X% of total exports.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of exports, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

In value terms, Croatia ($X) remains the key foreign market for rice exports from Slovenia, comprising X% of total rice exports. The second position in the ranking was occupied by Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Montenegro, with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Croatia stood at +X%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Bosnia and Herzegovina (+X% per year) and Montenegro (+X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2018, the average rice export price amounted to $X per ton, surging by X% against the previous year. Over the last eleven years, it increased at an average annual rate of +X%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2009 an increase of X% y-o-y. Over the period under review, the average export prices for rice reached their maximum at $X per ton in 2011; however, from 2012 to 2018, export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2018, the highest prices were recorded for prices to Montenegro ($X per ton) and Serbia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per ton) and Croatia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Serbia, while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2018, approx. X tons of rice were imported into Slovenia; going up by X% against the previous year. In general, rice imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008 when imports increased by X% year-to-year. Over the period under review, rice imports attained their maximum at X tons in 2009; however, from 2010 to 2018, imports failed to regain their momentum.

In value terms, rice imports stood at $X in 2018. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +X% from 2007 to 2018; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. In 2018, Italy (X tons) constituted the largest rice supplier to Slovenia, with a X% share of total imports. Moreover, rice imports from Italy exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belgium (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was occupied by India (X tons), with a X% share.

From 2007 to 2018, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from Italy was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+X% per year) and India (+X% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average rice import price stood at $X per ton in 2018, going up by X% against the previous year. Overall, the rice import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average import price increased by X% year-to-year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2018, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2018, the country with the highest price was Pakistan ($X per ton), while the price for Germany ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2007 to 2018, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
