Market Size for Special-Purpose Electric Lamps and Lighting Fittings in Slovenia

The Slovene market for special-purpose electric lamps and lighting fittings declined slightly to $X in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers' margins, which will be included in the final consumer price). In general, consumption, however, saw a perceptible descent. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, overseas shipments of special-purpose electric lamps and lighting fittings decreased by -8.2% to X units for the first time since 2015, thus ending a six-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 58%. The exports peaked at X units in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.

In value terms, exports of special-purpose electric lamps and lighting fittings declined to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 45%. The exports peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted modestly in the following year.

Exports by Country

Croatia (X units), Austria (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main destinations of exports of special-purpose electric lamps and lighting fittings from Slovenia, together comprising 59% of total exports. The Czech Republic, Germany, Malaysia, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia, Vietnam, Portugal, France and Bosnia and Herzegovina lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 27%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Malaysia (with a CAGR of +103.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Croatia ($X), Austria ($X) and Italy ($X) constituted the largest markets for special-purpose electric lamp and lighting fitting exported from Slovenia worldwide, with a combined 54% share of total exports. Slovakia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Malaysia, France, Poland, Vietnam, Portugal and Bosnia and Herzegovina lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.

Malaysia, with a CAGR of +123.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the average export price for special-purpose electric lamps and lighting fittings amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 4.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average export price increased by 13%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+15.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Slovenia

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of special-purpose electric lamps and lighting fittings, when their volume decreased by -6.8% to X units. Overall, imports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 37%. Imports peaked at X units in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

In value terms, imports of special-purpose electric lamps and lighting fittings dropped to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum at $X in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest special-purpose electric lamp and lighting fitting supplier to Slovenia, accounting for a 44% share of total imports. Moreover, imports of special-purpose electric lamps and lighting fittings from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X units), fourfold. Croatia (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 7.2% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from China totaled +7.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+1.6% per year) and Croatia (+47.4% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of special-purpose electric lamps and lighting fittings to Slovenia, comprising 36% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 9.5% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled +11.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (+7.5% per year) and Germany (+0.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The average import price for special-purpose electric lamps and lighting fittings stood at $X per unit in 2022, falling by -2.3% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 30% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the price for Bulgaria ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
