In value terms, sugar beet exports reduced to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 123%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

Italy (X tons), Croatia (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) were the main destinations of sugar beet exports from Slovenia, together comprising 97% of total exports.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Croatia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+48.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in supplies from abroad of sugar beet, when their volume increased by 464% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports showed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 1,049%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2022, the Czech Republic (X tons) was the main sugar beet supplier to Slovenia, accounting for a 92% share of total imports. Moreover, sugar beet imports from the Czech Republic exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Croatia (X tons), more than tenfold.
