Syringe Market Size in Slovenia

The Slovene syringe market shrank notably to $X in 2022, declining by -20.7% against the previous year. Overall, exports, however, posted buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 733% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, syringe exports reduced dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 247% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.

Exports by Country

Switzerland (X units), North Macedonia (X units) and Austria (X units) were the main destinations of syringe exports from Slovenia, with a combined 85% share of total exports. Ukraine, Croatia, Nepal, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 13%.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Ukraine (with a CAGR of +161.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Switzerland ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for syringes, with or without needles exports from Slovenia, comprising 41% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by North Macedonia ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Ukraine, with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to Switzerland totaled +183.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: North Macedonia (+37.0% per year) and Ukraine (+155.5% per year).

The average syringe export price stood at $X per unit in 2022, falling by -5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 80%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Serbia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Nepal (less than $X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+11.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Slovenia

In 2022, overseas purchases of syringes, with or without needles decreased by -23.7% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, posted a tangible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 90% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then declined markedly in the following year.

In value terms, syringe imports reduced dramatically to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a mild increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 108% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then declined sharply in the following year.

Imports by Country

Slovakia (X units), Spain (X units) and China (X units) were the main suppliers of syringe imports to Slovenia, together accounting for 72% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Slovakia (with a CAGR of +40.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest syringe suppliers to Slovenia were Italy ($X), the United States ($X) and Slovakia ($X), together comprising 49% of total imports.

In terms of the main suppliers, Slovakia, with a CAGR of +34.0%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average syringe import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, declining by -22.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the average import price increased by 23%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($X per unit), while the price for Spain (less than $X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+15.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
