Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, zinc exports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, exports posted a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 696%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
Bosnia and Herzegovina (X tons), Serbia (X tons) and Croatia (X tons) were the main destinations of zinc exports from Slovenia, with a combined 82% share of total exports. Poland and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 17%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +88.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X), Serbia ($X) and Croatia ($X) constituted the largest markets for zinc exported from Slovenia worldwide, with a combined 83% share of total exports. Poland and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 16%.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Italy ($X per ton) and Croatia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($X per ton) and Bosnia and Herzegovina ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of zinc, unwrought (not alloyed) increased by 27% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Overall, imports, however, recorded a noticeable curtailment. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, zinc imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +138.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Belgium (X tons), Finland (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of zinc imports to Slovenia, together accounting for 71% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Belgium (with a CAGR of +286.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Belgium ($X), Finland ($X) and the Netherlands ($X) appeared to be the largest zinc suppliers to Slovenia, together accounting for 73% of total imports.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 37%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Austria ($X per ton) and Belgium ($X per ton), while the price for India ($X per ton) and Poland ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
