The South African butter and dairy spreads market contracted notably to $X in 2022, waning by -29.5% against the previous year. Namibia (X tons) was the main destination for butter and dairy spreads exports from South Africa, with a 40% share of total exports. Moreover, butter and dairy spreads exports to Namibia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Mozambique (X tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Botswana (X tons), with a 17% share.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 122%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
