Based on 2021 figures, dolomite export price increased by +39.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 67% against the previous year. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Namibia ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Swaziland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 418% against the previous year. Imports peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Namibia (X tons) was the main dolomite supplier to South Africa, with a 98% share of total imports. It was followed by France (X tons), with a 0.3% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Namibia stood at +28.1%.
In value terms, Namibia ($X) constituted the largest supplier of chalk and dolomite to South Africa, comprising 74% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by France ($X), with a 1.1% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Namibia stood at +20.8%.
Import Prices by Country
The average dolomite import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -49.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a abrupt descent.
