These countries were followed by Botswana, Zambia, Lesotho, Mozambique and Swaziland, which together accounted for a further 39%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Lesotho (with a CAGR of +7.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Democratic Republic of the Congo ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Lesotho ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Zambia (+13.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, purchases abroad of check valves for pipes, boiler shells, tanks and vats was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when imports increased by 33%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, check valve imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a noticeable slump. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest check valve supplier to South Africa, accounting for a 75% share of total imports. Moreover, check valve imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (X units), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by India (X units), with a 3.6% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +1.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (-0.2% per year) and India (+17.6% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of check valves for pipes, boiler shells, tanks and vats to South Africa, comprising 38% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by the United States, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled +1.5%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Germany (+2.2% per year) and the United States (+0.2% per year).

In 2021, the average check valve import price amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 3.7% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 25%.
