After four years of growth, the South African modelling pastes market decreased by -30.8% to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2021, overseas purchases of modelling pastes, dental wax and dental impression compounds decreased by -37.6% to X tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, total imports indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
