In 2022, supplies from abroad of non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified increased by 27% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 302%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports saw a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 189% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In 2022, Lesotho (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified to South Africa, with a 89% share of total imports. Moreover, non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified imports from Lesotho exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Mozambique (X tons), more than tenfold. Israel (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4.8% share.

The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with a 7.6% share of total imports. It was followed by Mozambique, with a 4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Lesotho stood at +66.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Israel (-11.4% per year) and Mozambique (+165.1% per year).

The average import price for non-citrus fruits not elsewhere classified stood at $X per ton in 2022, stabilizing at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a abrupt setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 34% against the previous year.
