In 2021, the South African non-domestic dryer market increased by 111% to $X, rising for the third consecutive year after five years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, continues to indicate a deep contraction. Non-domestic dryer consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-domestic dryer exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a abrupt decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 376% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

Cote d'Ivoire (X units), Zimbabwe (X units) and Botswana (X units) were the main destinations of non-domestic dryer exports from South Africa, together comprising 2.4% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Cote d'Ivoire (with a CAGR of +53.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Zimbabwe ($X), Namibia ($X) and Cote d'Ivoire ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for non-domestic dryer exported from South Africa worldwide, together accounting for 46% of total exports. The average non-domestic dryer export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, which is down by -16.1% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 353% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then fell rapidly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Namibia ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Swaziland ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+35.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-domestic dryer imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight decrease. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

China (X units), Turkey (X units) and Denmark (X units) were the main suppliers of non-domestic dryer imports to South Africa, together accounting for 4.7% of total imports. Poland, Belgium, Germany, Spain and Italy lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 0.4%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Poland (with a CAGR of +106.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Denmark ($X) constituted the largest supplier of non-domestic dryers to South Africa, comprising 55% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Poland, with an 8.8% share.
