Democratic Republic of the Congo (X units), Namibia (X units) and Botswana (X units) were the main destinations of optical telescope exports from South Africa, together accounting for 83% of total exports. These countries were followed by the UK, Lesotho, Germany, Zimbabwe and Belgium, which together accounted for a further 11%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in the UK (with a CAGR of +11.6%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.
In value terms, Namibia ($X) remains the key foreign market for optical telescope exports from South Africa, comprising 27% of total exports.
